The Indictment: United States v. George W. Bush et al By Steve @ 2:00 pm -- CST (11-30-06) Elizabeth de la Vega from TomDispatch.com details why George W. Bush, Richard B. Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Donald M. Rumsfeld, and Colin M. Powell, should be indicted for war crimes and conspiracy to defraud the United States. | -------------------------------------------------- Halliburton Settles Fraud Allegations By Barry @ 12:30 pm -- CST (11-30-06) Halliburton has agreed to pay $8 million to settle allegations of fraud and overcharging. Interestingly, these overcharges stem from the conflict in the Balkans and are not related to subsequent similar allegations flowing from work done in Iraq. This confirms Halliburton was already facing fraud charges when awarded no-bid contracts in Iraq. It is also worth noting that Halliburton has been allowed to settle charges of defrauding the United States government without those responsible facing a term of imprisonment. | -------------------------------------------------- Majority of Americans Believe Iraq Is in 'Civil War' By Steve @ 9:40 am -- CST (11-30-06) A majority of Americans think Iraq is in the midst of a civil war, a new Harris Interactive poll finds. Sixty-eight percent of U.S. adults said they believe there is a civil war in Iraq, compared with 14% who disagree and 18% who aren't sure. | -------------------------------------------------- Record Number of Americans Incarcerated By Barry @ 8:00 am -- CST (11-30-06) America is the undisputed world leader in incarcerating its citizens. The supposed "land of the free" now has over 3% of its adult population in some form of custody. These numbers have been steadily growing and show little sign of retreating. The vast majority of those victimized at the hands of the regime are guilty of non-violent offenses. There is no other Western nation that incarcerates its citizens at anywhere near this rate. It is a national disgrace. | -------------------------------------------------- 9/11 Rescue Workers Dying in Droves By Barry @ 5:20 pm -- CST (11-29-06) Despite the safety assurances of Christine Todd Whitman, 9/11 rescue workers are still dying from exposure to toxicity. The same government who refuses to recognize Gulf War Syndrome continues to deny any wrongdoing and assures all that lower Manhattan is free from toxic agents. | -------------------------------------------------- Governor Ryan Granted Bail By Barry @ 5:00 pm -- CST (11-29-06) Former Governor George Ryan, who courageously commuted the death sentence of every condemned prisoner on Illinois' death row, was granted bail today while an appeals court reviews his federal conviction. Ryan, a Republican, was appalled by the pervasive injustice found in many of the capital cases he reviewed. It was clear to him that many of the condemned men had received sub-par legal representation and were possibly innocent. His outspoken awakening was quickly followed by a vengeful federal prosecution. Conversely, former Governor George W. Bush claims to have "personally reviewed' the case of every prisoner prior to execution and still set a modern record for the number of state-sanctioned murders. Bush's utter lack of curiosity likely resulted in innocent people being sent to their death. His "compassionate conservatism" was perhaps best evidenced by his mocking Karla Faye Tucker's plea for clemency. | -------------------------------------------------- Judge Rules Bush Terror List Illegal By Barry @ 7:30 am -- CST (11-29-06) A federal judge has handed another setback to the regime's phony war on terror. The ruling curbs the regimes ability to arbitrarily designate groups as "terrorist organizations." The court found that there was no clear basis by which groups or individuals were being blacklisted. In other words, the acts of the regime were constitutionally vague and subject only to the whims of the president. Predictably, government prosecutors argued strenuously in favor of the regime's blatantly illegal acts. | -------------------------------------------------- Guilty Verdict in Medical Marijuana Case By Barry @ 7:20 am -- CST (11-29-06) According to the current regime, the nation is under constant threat of terrorists and their allies. Nevertheless, the government seems to have endless resources for nonsensical prosecutions such as this. | -------------------------------------------------- 'State Secrets Privilege' Blocks Fired Translator From Suing FBI By Steve @ 12:40 pm -- CST (11-28-06) Sibel Edmonds, who formed the 100-plus member National Security whistle-blowers Coalition in 2002, began working as a linguist for the FBI the week after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack. Several months into her contract, she discovered "shoddy" translations relevant to 9/11 created by translators who had "failed the proficiency exams." A report by the Justice Department's inspector general subsequently confirmed that at least one translator had failed the FBI's language proficiency exams. Edmonds lawsuit to contest her firing was dismissed. Legal briefs show the government had invoked the so-called state secrets privilege, arguing that the lawsuit would jeopardize national security. "Instead of protecting and standing up for whistle-blowers, this is just giving the complete green light to retaliate," says Edmonds, who lost her appeal. | -------------------------------------------------- Four Innocent Men Framed For Murder With The FBI's Help By Steve @ 12:30 pm -- CST (11-28-06) When a flurry of gunshots ended Edward "Teddy" Deegan's misspent life more than 40 years ago, there should have been no mystery about who pulled the trigger. FBI agents had been listening to the murder plot unfold for five months through a microphone hidden in a mob office and through reports from informants. They knew that Vincent "Jimmy" Flemmi and Joseph "The Animal" Barboza, two hoodlums the bureau was recruiting as informants, were behind the conspiracy. But what should have been an open-and-shut case turned into a legal nightmare. Thousands of recently disclosed U.S. Justice Department records show that the FBI, in order to cultivate Flemmi and Barboza as informants, allowed them to frame four innocent men for the Deegan murder. | -------------------------------------------------- Supreme Court Refuses to Halt Prosecutor's Review of Phone Records By Barry @ 7:40 am -- CST (11-28-06) Federal prosecutors now have the green light to review NY Times reporters phone records in an effort to further stifle dissent and impede the free flow of information. The most secret administration in the nation's history continues its unfettered march towards silencing critics and locking-down the media. | -------------------------------------------------- US v Bush By Barry @ 7:30 am -- CST (11-28-06) A former federal prosecutor has prepared the necessary paperwork for the indictment and prosecution of George W. Bush. A compelling case is made, detailing a variety of serious offenses. | -------------------------------------------------- Jury Nullification Still Valid? By Barry @ 7:20 am -- CST (11-28-06) Despite the government's best efforts to unlawfully influence the decision of jurors, the option of nullification is open to all juries. | -------------------------------------------------- Scholars Agree Iraq Meets Definition of 'Civil War' By Steve @ 5:40 pm -- CST (11-27-06) Though the Bush administration continues to insist that it is not, a growing number of U.S. and Iraqi scholars, leaders and policy analysts say the fighting in Iraq in every way meets the standard definition of civil war. The common scholarly definition has two main criteria. The first says that the warring groups must be from the same country and fighting for control of the political center, control over a separatist state or to force a major change in policy. The second says that at least 1,000 people must have been killed, with at least 100 from each side. American professors who specialize in the study of civil wars say that most of them agree that the conflict in Iraq is a civil war. | -------------------------------------------------- MSNBC, NBC News Decide To Call Civil War In Iraq 'A Civil War' By Steve @ 11:50 am -- CST (11-27-06) MSNBC and NBC News have decided to begin referring to the civil war raging in Iraq as a "civil war." MSNBC's Contessa Brewer explained that "the White House continues to resist" the phrase, but that "after careful thought, MSNBC and NBC News decided over the weekend, the terminology is appropriate, as armed militarized factions fight for their own political agendas." | -------------------------------------------------- More Bad News From Iraq By Barry @ 11:40 am -- CST (11-27-06) While the BCF continues to deny the obvious, Iraq is spiraling further into chaos. When does "sectarian strife" officially become a civil war? | -------------------------------------------------- Molly Ivins: Thanks -- No, Seriously By Steve @ 11:30 am -- CST (11-27-06) It's time to give thanks, and I want to start off with a great, big thank you for the top American movement conservatives and all the fun we've had since Election Day. I know I promised not to gloat after this election was over, but I'm not talking unseemly gloating -- I'm talking about moments so brilliantly hilarious the only option is to put your head down on the desk and howl. | -------------------------------------------------- Democrats Pledge Array of Investigations By Barry @ 1:40 pm -- CST (11-26-06) Incoming committee chairpersons are following a Republican rubberstamp Congress that provided zero oversight and allowed fraud to run rampant. In the words of one Democratic lawmaker, "There are lots and lots and lots of scandals." The same Republican lawmakers who sought to investigate President Clinton's Christmas card list failed to assert any investigative authority over lies which led to an illegal war, Cheney's energy committee abuses, Republican congressional pedophilia and a whole host of other matters which may finally be properly examined. | -------------------------------------------------- DOJ Seeks to Avoid Judicial Review By Barry @ 10:40 am -- CST (11-26-06) Patrick Fitzgerald, "hero" of the Left and long-time government prosecutor, asked the Supreme Court not to interfere with his effort to review phone records of Times reporters in connection with an investigation into Islamic charities. This is another attempt to send a message to reporters that they may be held criminally liable if their legitimate reporting efforts in any way impede DOJ investigations or prosecutions. | -------------------------------------------------- Despite 2006 Mid-Term Results, Ballot Problems Persist By Barry @ 10:30 am -- CST (11-26-06) Unless serious reform is implemented, the upcoming 2008 presidential election may be plagued with the same problems that allowed the improbable results of 2000 and 2004. The result of the 2006 mid-term election may be held up as "proof" that the process is functioning properly, despite an assortment of well-documented problems. | -------------------------------------------------- Rumsfeld Okayed Abuses Says Former US Army General By Steve @ 7:30 am -- CST (11-26-06) Former U.S. Army Brigadier General Janis Karpinski told Spain's El Pais newspaper she had seen a letter apparently signed by Rumsfeld which allowed civilian contractors to use techniques such as sleep deprivation during interrogation. Karpinski, who ran the prison until early 2004, said she saw a memorandum signed by Rumsfeld detailing the use of harsh interrogation methods. "The handwritten signature was above his printed name and in the same handwriting in the margin was written: "Make sure this is accomplished"," she told Saturday's El Pais. | -------------------------------------------------- Secret Pentagon Documents Classify Veterans For Peace Group as a "Threat" By Steve @ 7:20 am -- CST (11-26-06) A previously secret intelligence report calls the group a "threat to military installations." The report lists the group's upcoming events and warns that while it's a "peaceful organization," "there is potential that future protests could become violent." "As to attacking any base or anything else, that is ridiculous," says Veterans for Peace group member Ron Dexter. "We support the troops one hundred percent." | -------------------------------------------------- Til Death do us Part By Steve @ 7:10 am -- CST (11-26-06) Undercover cops shot and killed a groom on his wedding day and wounded two other unarmed men early yesterday near a strip club in Queens - enraging the dead man's relatives, who called the shooting unjustified. The hail of gunfire at a car full of unarmed men drew an outcry from family members and community leaders. Two passengers, who had been celebrating with the groom at a strip club, were also injured; one was struck by at least 11 bullets. | -------------------------------------------------- Maureen Dowd: If a Civil War Fits, You Can't Acquit By Steve @ 10:50 am -- CST (11-25-06) With a timely reference to the rise and fall of the O.J. Simpson book (and what she calls the "Thanksgiving Day Massacre" in Iraq) Maureen Dowd in her Saturday column for The New York Times suggests that President Bush go on Fox News and declare, "IF I did it -- here's how the civil war in Iraq happened." | -------------------------------------------------- Justice Department Quashes Wiretapping Inquiries By Steve @ 10:30 am -- CST (11-25-06) The Department of Justice's response to inquiries sent by Maine, Connecticut, Vermont and New Jersey about possible illegal wiretapping has been to sue. | -------------------------------------------------- Chertoff's 'Chilling Vision' By Steve @ 10:20 am -- CST (11-25-06) Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who runs the giant agency that keeps track of threats to the United States, has shared what he calls his "chilling vision" of the future -- a time when U.S. government actions might be constrained by international law. Chertoff outlined his nightmare scenario in a November speech to the Federalist Society, an organization of right-wing lawyers who spearheaded the legal arguments for granting President George W. Bush authority unbound by any law, including the constitutional rights of Americans. | -------------------------------------------------- US Interference 'Allowed Terror Gang to Escape' By Steve @ 9:00 am -- CST (11-25-06) A team of suspected terrorists involved in an alleged UK plot to blow up trans-atlantic airliners escaped capture because of interference by the United States. An investigation by MI5 and Scotland Yard into an alleged plan to smuggle explosive devices on up to 10 passenger jets was jeopardised in August, when the US put pressure on authorities in Pakistan to arrest a suspect allegedly linked to the airliner plot. | -------------------------------------------------- DNA Clears Man Despite Police Lab's Refusal to do Test By Steve @ 8:45 am -- CST (11-25-06) Authorities are reviewing the conviction of a man imprisoned for a 1992 rape after he was cleared by DNA tests that the original lab analyst refused to conduct. Marlon Pendleton's lawyers received the results of the new tests Wednesday and filed a motion seeking to vacate his conviction. Pendleton demanded DNA testing after his arrest, but police lab analyst Pamela Fish said there wasn't enough genetic material to test the evidence. The expert who conducted the new tests, Brian Wraxall of Serological Research Institute, said Wednesday he was surprised at Fish's report "because I found a reasonable amount of DNA." | -------------------------------------------------- Baghdad Violence Fuels Fears of Civil War By Steve @ 8:30 am -- CST (11-25-06) Fearful Iraqis spent sleepless nights guarding their homes and asking who would be next after gunmen burned mosques and houses in a Sunni enclave following the worst bomb attack since the U.S. invasion in 2003. The city of 7 million was under a tight curfew for a second full day since Thursday's bombing in which more than 200 Shi'ites died. It's time for the Bush administration to stop lying to the American people and admit Iraq is already in a civil war. | -------------------------------------------------- Victoria Gotti Suffers Stroke By Steve @ 8:40 am -- CST (11-24-06) A distraught John A. (Junior) Gotti and his siblings spent Thanksgiving at the hospital bedside of their mother, Victoria Gotti, who suffered a stroke this week. The Dapper Don's widow was "resting comfortably" at world-renowned New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia, where her four children have been visiting her every day. | -------------------------------------------------- Feds Relax Safeguards on DNA Evidence By Steve @ 8:30 am -- CST (11-24-06) If a sibling or other close relation of yours ever went to prison for more than a year, suspicion of criminal behavior now extends to you. | -------------------------------------------------- Republican House Passes Law Labeling Peaceful Protests "Terrorism" By Steve @ 7:40 am -- CST (11-24-06) This act is ostensibly intended to curtail violent protest by animal rights and environmental activists, but its broad language threatens many legitimate forms of protest. | -------------------------------------------------- US Will Spend $125-Million to Construct Kangaroo Courthouse at Guantanamo By Steve @ 7:30 am -- CST (11-24-06) Spending $125-million for 70 trials is extravagant even by US Military standards. | -------------------------------------------------- UN Says US Report on Iran Nuclear Program a Big Lie By Steve @ 7:30 am -- CST (11-23-06) U.N. inspectors investigating Iran's nuclear program angrily complained to the Bush administration and to a Republican congressman yesterday about a recent House committee report on Iran's capabilities, calling parts of the document "outrageous and dishonest" and offering evidence to refute its central claims. | -------------------------------------------------- Clear Evidence 2006 Congressional Elections Were Hacked By Steve @ 7:20 am -- CST (11-23-06) "The numbers tell us there absolutely was hacking going on, just not enough to overcome the size of the actual turnout. The tide turned so much in the last few weeks before the eleciton. It looks for all the world that they'd already figured out the percentage they needed to rig, when the programming of the vote rigging software was distributed weeks before the election, and it wasn't enough." | -------------------------------------------------- Guantanamo Hearings a Complete Farce, Says Study By Steve @ 7:00 am -- CST (11-23-06) "These were not hearings. These were shams," said Mark Denbeaux, an attorney and Seton Hall University law professor who along with his son, Joshua, is the author of the report. | -------------------------------------------------- Acquitted Seeks Legal Fees from Feds By Barry @ 7:50 am -- CST (11-22-06) In this matter, defense counsel is citing a statute allowing reimbursement for legal fees if the case brought by the government was "vexatious, frivolous or in bad faith." That description covers a lot of federal prosecutions. | -------------------------------------------------- Bush Daughter Barbara Robbed, Secret Service Agent Beaten By Barry @ 7:40 am -- CST (11-22-06) It sounds like Argentina is being less than hospitable. | -------------------------------------------------- Freedom, Chertoff Style By Barry @ 7:30 am -- CST (11-22-06) Beginning this January all people entering the US, even from Canada and Mexico, will be required to present a valid passport. Data suggests only 1 out of 4 Americans currently possess a passport. | -------------------------------------------------- Diebold Whistleblower Pleads Guilty By Barry @ 2:00 pm -- CST (11-21-06) It is unfortunate that this individual was intimidated into taking a plea for exposing Diebold's crimes. According to his statement, they simply wore him out. | -------------------------------------------------- Election Day Dirty Trick Roundup By Barry @ 11:40 am -- CST (11-21-06) It appears that had the winning margin of this past election not been so wide, the likely result would have been another stolen election. | -------------------------------------------------- Officer in Taser Case Previously Recommended for Dismissal By Barry @ 8:00 am -- CST (11-21-06) The fact that he was still employed after earlier "incidents" suggests liability on his employer's part. | -------------------------------------------------- War Criminal Gonzales Criticizes Warrantless Eavesdropping Opponents By Barry @ 9:30 am -- CST (11-20-06) Gonzales claims critics are "defining freedom in a way that poses a 'grave threat' to US security." Ironically, it is Gonzales himself who poses a greater threat. | -------------------------------------------------- Feds Continue Vendetta Against Medical Marijuana By Barry @ 2:40 pm -- CST (11-19-06) More hypocrisy from the people who love to argue for "states rights." | -------------------------------------------------- Feds Ignore 9/11 Autopsy Results By Barry @ 2:30 pm -- CST (11-19-06) Despite the assurances of Christie Whitman, it appears that a lot of workers were poisoned during 9/11 rescue and cleanup. | -------------------------------------------------- CIA Analysis Finds No Iran Nuke Threat By Barry @ 12:30 pm -- CST (11-19-06) The genocidal war crime-committing BCF ignored similar data prior to launching the Iraq disaster. | -------------------------------------------------- The Parade of Acquittals Continues in Federal Court By Barry @ 10:30 am -- CST (11-19-06) Jurors appear to be much more inclined to side with citizens against government accusers. It will be interesting to see how the government responds to this growing trend. | -------------------------------------------------- Feds Running Out of Options With Padilla By Barry @ 6:10 pm -- CST (11-18-06) The day Padilla's arrest was announced, John Ashcroft made it sound as if he had slapped on the cuffs just in time to prevent the detonation of a dirty bomb. That does not appear to be the case. The evidence suggests Padilla is the victim of a massive government campaign of misinformation. His lawyers claim he has been tortured and possibly drugged. Predictably, the government denies the allegations. | -------------------------------------------------- Federal Employee Rapes Woman By Barry @ 9:10 am -- CST (11-18-06) There is really nothing unique about this matter other than it furnishing further evidence that the government continues to scrape the bottom of the barrel. | -------------------------------------------------- Judge Bars Times from Using Sources in Defense of Hatfill Suit By Barry @ 7:40 am -- CST (11-18-06) The judge has essentially ruled that the Times cannot have it both ways. If they refuse to name the source, now confirmed to be FBI agents, they cannot rely on the information provided by the source in their defense. The net effect is a big win for Dr. Hatfill. A victory for Dr. Hatfill may cause the media to think before they mindlessly repeat what the government instructs. | -------------------------------------------------- Shocking New Gitmo Report By Barry @ 7:30 am -- CST (11-18-06) The US is conducting what can only be seen as the epitome of kangaroo courts. No hearing, no defense witnesses and no ability for the accused to examine the evidence all adds up to a "trial" which is decidedly un-American. | -------------------------------------------------- Freed Prisoner Prays for Governor Ryan By Barry @ 7:20 am -- CST (11-18-06) This case is receiving almost no media attention. Governor George Ryan commuted every death penalty in Illinois and was subsequently targeted by federal prosecutors. Now he is heading off to prison. | -------------------------------------------------- Federal Prison Sentencing Update By Barry @ 6:30 pm -- CST (11-17-06) The list of prospective Bush pardons continues to grow. | -------------------------------------------------- Acquittal in 9/11 Perjury Case By Barry @ 6:20 pm -- CST (11-17-06) The parade of acquittals in federal court continues. It is interesting to note that in this trial when the government didn't get their way with the judge (a rarity in federal court, perhaps something we'll see more often?), they sought to have her recused. | -------------------------------------------------- Compelling Evidence of 2006 Election Fraud By Barry @ 2:20 pm -- CST (11-17-06) Independent exit polling suggests wide disparities between actual and polling data. | -------------------------------------------------- Al Qaeda and the Mob: How the Feds Blew 9/11 By Barry @ 2:10 pm -- CST (11-17-06) The FBI office in lower Manhattan put limitless resources into bringing down John Gotti and his associates while ignoring the 9/11 plot as it developed right before them. Gangsters could always be counted on for great headlines while Islamic extremists were previously less certain to advance careers. Many of the agents involved seemed to take their cue from the Rudy Giuliani method of pursuing cases that would most benefit themselves. Protecting the public is simply a ploy. The real goal is advancement up the federal-judicial corporate ladder. | -------------------------------------------------- Despite Promise of Bipartisanship, Bush's Handlers Appoint Radicals to Federal Bench By Barry @ 2:00 pm -- CST (11-17-06) The current administration has made some horrible appointments to the federal judiciary, rivaling his fathers selection of Clarence Thomas. Democrats, despite their power to block unfit nominees, have allowed many to be confirmed. The damage done by these blatantly unsuitable appointments is unimaginable. Submission of this list is a fairly clear indication that the BCF has already forgotten about the election and will continue with business as usual. | -------------------------------------------------- UCLA Student Attacked by Police Seeks Suit By Barry @ 11:35 am -- CST (11-17-06) It is hard to believe the police acted as they did while in full public view. While UCLA's chancellor may ask that the public withhold judgment, it is difficult to imagine what circumstances might mitigate the shocking video account of this incident. | -------------------------------------------------- Past Sins Keep Rummy Home By Barry @ 7:45 am -- CST (11-17-06) Wouldn't it be ironic if Rummy were brought to justice via extraordinary rendition? | -------------------------------------------------- Justice Denied: Dr. Dhafir Serving 22 Years for Distributing Medicine to Children By Barry @ 6:35 am -- CST (11-17-06) In an era of federal prosecutorial misconduct run wild, the case of Dr. Dhafir is a poster child. This article offers an excellent overview of a truly terrible miscarriage of justice. Federal prosecutors labeled Dr. Dhafir as a "terrorist" when it suited their needs and subsequently asserted he was merely a "common thief' at trial. His crime was sending medicine to needy children. | -------------------------------------------------- Police Assault Student with Taser for Failure to Show ID By Barry @ 3:25 pm -- CST (11-16-06) The victim is repeatedly assaulted in this video by campus police. Shocking! | -------------------------------------------------- Falsely Accused Scientist Seeks Fines for NY Times By Barry @ 12:25 pm -- CST (11-16-06) Steven Hatfill was a government scientist wrongly accused of the 2001 anthrax attacks. John Ashcroft splashed his name all over the media by declaring Hatfill to be a "person of interest." Hatfill is seeking for a NY Times columnist to disclose the source of these false assertions. It is highly likely that the source is a Department of Justice employee. While I generally support reporters' efforts to keep confidential sources confidential, this case has a disturbingly different tone. The columnist in this matter allowed himself to be used as a shill for the government and has a duty to disclose these misdeeds. This is a common government tactic and has previously been discussed on this site. The government basically uses contacts in the media to disseminate false information to an unsuspecting public. The media contacts must regurgitate the story exactly as directed, or they will cease to be given future stories. This has proven to be a very effective means by which to poison prospective jury pools. If this reporter wishes to retain any credibility, he should come clean now and identify who coordinated this program of deceit. This is a far cry journalism and should not be confused with protecting a legitimate source. | -------------------------------------------------- Another Victory in Federal Court By Barry @ 6:05 am -- CST (11-16-06) It is encouraging to see jurors increasingly reject government fabrications and have the courage to acquit defendants. The feds are still touting their 99% conviction rate. What they neglect to tell anyone is that 98% plead guilty. | -------------------------------------------------- Found Not Guilty? Go to Jail By Barry @ 6:00 am -- CST (11-16-06) The current federal sentencing scheme allows defendants to be sentenced for conduct stemming from offenses for which they were acquitted. | -------------------------------------------------- Enron Fastow Underling Receives 5 1/2 Year Sentence By Barry @ 7:50 pm -- CST (11-15-06) The record suggests that this individual was significantly less culpable than Fastow, the architect of the massive Enron fraud. Nevertheless, federal prosecutors argued that he be given a greater sentence. The judge apparently was able to see the obvious. When it comes to federal sentencing, that's far from an automatic. | -------------------------------------------------- Bush Personally Approved Illegal Torture and Detention By Barry @ 1:50 pm -- CST (11-15-06) These documents demonstrate that Bush personally approved the very acts he continues to deny. | -------------------------------------------------- Alleged Supermax Staffing Woes By Barry @ 1:35 pm -- CST (11-15-06) Articles such as this are routinely released to the media at the urging of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and/or the union representing prison staff. These institutions are typically placed in economically depressed areas and are a bonanza for the local economy. It is common to see multiple family members working at these institutions. Prison unions lobbied hard for increased sentencing schemes, including "three strikes" laws. This all but assured members of job security in an industry guaranteed to grow. If union members are concerned about staffing issues, perhaps they should consider lobbying for shorter sentences, particularly for non-violent offenders. This would free-up valuable resources and allow truly dangerous individuals to be properly supervised. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen. The Bureau of Prisons and its staff see prisoners as a valuable resource, the key to job security and increased hiring. Despite the alleged problems outlined in this article, they are only interested in acquiring and warehousing more "customers." | -------------------------------------------------- Multiple Arrests from Online Gaming Site By Barry @ 1:30 pm -- CST (11-15-06) The regime uses every opportunity available to scare people and remind them of the "grave dangers" we face. Nevertheless, there seems to be an abundance of resources available to pursue victimless crimes like internet gambling. This is another example of a prosecution that only benefits the prosecutors. Where are the victims? | -------------------------------------------------- Regime Continues to Fight for Indefinite Detention By Barry @ 1:20 pm -- CST (11-15-06) Despite the recent election results, the unrelenting assault on civil rights continues. The right to indefinitely jail people without due process brings to mind Stalin's Russia and Hitler's Germany. It is distinctly un-American and poses an infinitely greater threat than the "terrorists" from which we are supposedly being protected. These acts underscore a broader theme of danger posed by the government. The likelihood of being victimized by a government prosecutor is immeasurably greater than the chances of being harmed by "terrorists." Unlike color-coded government manufactured threats broadcast by regime propaganda organs like FOX, this threat is very real and already here. | -------------------------------------------------- Survivor Richard Hatch Speaks Out from Prison By Barry @ 1:15 pm -- CST (11-15-06) Hatch claims federal prosecutors told numerous lies about his case. Until one deals directly with these fraudsters, it is difficult to believe the lies and deceit in which they routinely engage. Once you have had the benefit of seeing their numerous frauds upon the court, your opinions often are dismissed as "angry rants from a criminal." Regardless of his status, Hatch's claims ring true. | -------------------------------------------------- FBI Claims Murder of Federal Prosecutor Five Years Ago Not a "Cold Case" By Barry @ 1:10 pm -- CST (11-15-06) Like most crimes, this case will likely remain unsolved without an informant. | -------------------------------------------------- Wrongly Convicted Man Freed After 14 Years Sues City for $50 Million By Barry @ 11:10 am -- CST (11-14-06) There seems to be a type of pattern,'' said Irving Cohen, Hidalgo's lawyer. "I think there's a desire to clear cases as quickly as possible. I think there's an interest, sometimes a desire, for advancement within the Police Department and maybe even the district attorney's office.'' The epidemic of wrongful convictions continues. | -------------------------------------------------- Prosecutors Move to Deny Bail For Former Governor By Barry @ 8:30 am -- CST (11-14-06) George Ryan took a courageous step when he commuted the death sentences of every prisoner on Illinois' death row. Then Governor Ryan cited an alarming rate of false convictions and subsequent exonerations. His actions present quite a contrast with the acts of Governor George Bush who executed a record number of prisoners, mocked a female prisoner's plea for mercy and claimed to have "personally reviewed" each case prior to execution. Ryan's reward was a federal prosecution. Coincidence? | -------------------------------------------------- Feds Deny Padilla Torture Claim By Barry @ 6:30 am -- CST (11-14-06) The regime has consistantly denied employing torture tactics while demanding the right to use torture. The government brief assures that Padilla, a US citizen, is being "treated humanely." I suppose that is intended to be the end of the inquiry. | -------------------------------------------------- Rumsfeld Charged With War Crimes By Barry @ 4:50 pm -- CST (11-13-06) The complaint states Rumsfeld's "resignation" denies him any immunity which may have existed as a result of his government position. | -------------------------------------------------- Accused War Criminal Rumsfeld Cancel Trip to Latvia By Barry @ 4:40 pm -- CST (11-13-06) As predicted, high ranking BCF members will be altering their travel plans. It is understandable that Rumsfeld may not want to spend his remaining years in custody for various war crimes, including genocide. I suspect counsel will advise Rumsfeld and others to stay within the friendly confines of the good ol' USA. | -------------------------------------------------- Will Democrats Restore Democracy? By Barry @ 12:30 pm -- CST (11-13-06) Blame for failure to correct the nation's disastrous course set by the BCF will fall squarely on Democratic shoulders. The ball is in their court and the nation awaits much needed relief. | -------------------------------------------------- Clown Appoints His Parole Officer Head of Mob By Barry @ 7:00 am -- CST (11-13-06) This can be seen as responding to outlandish claims with those even more ridiculous. | -------------------------------------------------- More Disparate Enron Sentences By Barry @ 6:40 am -- CST (11-13-06) The admitted architect of Enron's most egregious frauds received a six year sentence while underlings will likely receive years more in upcoming sentencing hearings. This again demonstrates that these defendants are not being sentenced for the underlying fraud. If they were, the most culpable would receive the greatest sentence. In reality, they are being sentenced as if the offense were "failure to cooperate" with those rendering the greatest cooperation receiving the lightest sentences. The monetary loss caused by a defendant seems to matter much less than their level of subsequent cooperation. So who are these sentences benefiting, the victims or the prosecutors? | -------------------------------------------------- Electronic Voting Problems Continue to Plague Florida By Barry @ 6:30 am -- CST (11-13-06) Despite a favorable outcome, electronic voting errors were still pervasive in this past election. Had the margin of victory not been so wide, another stolen election would have been a very likely outcome. | -------------------------------------------------- Reid Promises "Proactive" Congressional Oversight By Barry @ 11:15 am -- CST (11-12-06) Six years of a rubberstamp Congress with zero oversight has produced disastrous results. Furthermore, it has cultivated an environment where unchecked fraud has been allowed to run rampant. A mere scratching of the surface will likely yield a plethora of criminal acts. Reid's comments suggest he intends to dig deep. It sounds as if the subpoenas are already being prepared. | -------------------------------------------------- Rumsfeld, Gonzales, Tenet Face War Crime Charges By Barry @ 7:10 am -- CST (11-12-06) The reason behind Bush's constant refusal to recognize international criminal law is becoming clear. Weren't these the same people who mindlessly repeated the mantra "Rule of Law" during Clinton's impeachment? | -------------------------------------------------- Democrats Vow to Stop Far Right Judicial Nominees By Barry @ 7:00 am -- CST (11-12-06) The current administration has made some of the worst judicial appointments in the nation's history. Unfortunately, it is only Supreme and sometimes circuit court nominees who receive any publicity. The real damage, however, is often done at the district court level where nuts, like the "judge" who put Tommy Chong in jail for nine months for selling a glass water pipe, are allowed to do great harm to the citizenry. | -------------------------------------------------- Bushites vs. Rule of Law Showdown Looming? By Barry @ 11:50 am -- CST (11-11-06) BCF head Dick Cheney is already on record stating that he would ignore an order to appear before Congress if his testimony was sought. It seems inevitable given Bush's idea of an imperial presidency that there will be some kind of showdown between the executive and legislative branches of government. Ultimately, those who are compelled to testify and subsequently refuse will either be jailed for contempt or be allowed to simply "get away with it." | -------------------------------------------------- Alleged Iraq Terror Leader Actually Serving Sentence in Egypt By Barry @ 11:45 am -- CST (11-11-06) The man credited with the most recent "terror" tape, which threatened to destroy the White House, is actually serving time in an Egyptian jail. Thus we see another example of a government with such contempt for its citizens that it does not even bother fact checking its misrepresentations. | -------------------------------------------------- Illegal Wiretapping Early Post-Election Casualty By Barry @ 8:35 am -- CST (11-11-06) While it is certainly a step in the right direction, justice demands not only a cessation of illegal wiretapping, but also prosecution of those who engaged in it. | -------------------------------------------------- Conyers Does a 180, Now Says "No Impeachment" By Barry @ 5:40 pm -- CST (11-10-06) Is this the same John Conyers who authored the "Conyers Report?" Conyers is arguably the Democrat most familiar with the myriad of crimes committed by the BCF, yet is basically giving them a "get out of jail free card" before even assuming his chairmanship. What the hell is going on? I suspect that many of the crimes committed by the BCF could not have been possible without the aid of Democrats as well as Republicans. Conyers is clearly covering for someone. It is outrageous that one of the first acts of the new Congress will be to give their predecessors a pass on past criminal activity. This is simply more proof of the obvious, members of both parties feed from the same trough. This is absolutely, totally and unequivocally unacceptable! | -------------------------------------------------- 86% Favor Impeachment By Barry @ 3:35 pm -- CST (11-10-06) Poll reveals an overwhelming majority of Americans recognize the multitude of crimes committed by the BCF. Simple impeachment may fall short of an appropriate punishment given the severity of the crimes committed. A trial before an international tribunal at the Hague may be much more fitting. It is interesting to note how the BCF has fought against the World Court at every opportunity. | -------------------------------------------------- CNN Scrubs Outing of Mehlman in Larry King Rebroadcast By Barry @ 8:35 am -- CST (11-10-06) More truth flushed down the memory hole. | -------------------------------------------------- Former FOX Reporter Indicted for Abusive Sexual Contact By Barry @ 7:55 am -- CST (11-10-06) More sexual escapades from those with the self-proclaimed moral highground. | -------------------------------------------------- War Crime Charges Being Filed Against Rumsfeld By Barry @ 7:45 am -- CST (11-10-06) Rumsfeld, as well as other prominent members of the BCF, will likely carefully consult with counsel before traveling outside of the friendly confines of the US. A stay at the Hague may be in their collective futures. | -------------------------------------------------- FBI Investigates Still More LAPD Brutality By Barry @ 6:50 am -- CST (11-10-06) The LAPD continues to violate the civil rights of the community they are sworn to protect. Had this incident not been caught on video, it likely would have been dismissed as another "baseless" claim. | -------------------------------------------------- Death Row Inmate has Conviction Thrown-Out, Remains Jailed By Barry @ 6:00 am -- CST (11-10-06) Another Texas death row inmate imprisoned and nearly executed for a crime they did not commit. A review of those executed while George Bush was governor would likely yield more of the same. | -------------------------------------------------- CNN Threatens Blogger for Posting Bill Maher's Outing of Ken Mehlman By Barry @ 6:00 pm -- CST (11-9-06) CNN is attempting to flush the truth down the memory hole. If Maher's statement were not true, would CNN (or whomever is pulling their strings) be making such an effort to scrub the record? As so many have previously pointed-out, the issue is not the sexual preferences of individuals. Rather, it is the gross hypocrisy of a party largely run by homosexuals making gay-bashing and denial of gay rights prominent platforms. | -------------------------------------------------- War Criminal Rumsfeld Re-Assigned By Barry @ 6:05 am -- CST (11-9-06) The official story is that Rumsfeld has been "fired." Considering his position atop the BCF power structure, this seems highly unlikely. Rumsfeld has probably been given a change in job title only, maintaining a position of significant power within the Bush criminal enterprise. The choice to replace Rumsfeld is interesting in that Gates is a longtime Bush l loyalist. Expect more recycling of Bush l personnel in an attempt to "save" a presidency that history will almost certainly record as a colossal failure. | -------------------------------------------------- Despite Results, Election Integrity Still at Risk By Barry @ 6:00 am -- CST (11-9-06) The point being made here is that despite a positive result, the documented flaws in the system still remain. | -------------------------------------------------- AP has called Virginia Senate race for James Webb (D) By Steve @ 11:00 pm -- CST (11-8-06) Provided AP's call holds, Democrats have taken control of the U.S. Senate, 51-49. | -------------------------------------------------- Cop Turned Informant Wants Pension By Barry @ 9:00 pm -- CST (11-8-06) Confession may be good for the soul, but it is likely not going to help this criminal cop keep feeding from the public trough. | -------------------------------------------------- Laura Ingraham Instructs Audience to Obstruct Voter Protection Hotline By Barry @ 1:40 pm -- CST (11-8-06) The Democratic victory should not be viewed as having occurred as a result of an absence of fraud, but rather despite massive fraud. Nevertheless, the sheer number of voters dissatisfied with Bush's disastrous policies rendered the tactics of 2000 and 2004 moot. | -------------------------------------------------- Bush's Hell Begins Today By Barry @ 1:30 pm -- CST (11-8-06) It is likely that the worst crimes committed by the BCF have yet to come to light. Armed with subpoena power and control of at least one house of Congress, the majority party will soon begin fleshing-out the egregious misdeeds of the past six years. | -------------------------------------------------- GOP Swept Out in Anger By Steve @ 7:00 pm -- CST (11-8-06)
In a stunning rebuke to the President, the Iraq war and the scandal-plagued GOP, voters even in deep-red Republican states like Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas and North Carolina - and in upstate New York - decided to throw the bums out. In the Senate, they appeared to have clinched at least a tie but were leading in enough states early this morning to possibly control there, too. | -------------------------------------------------- Widespread Voter Fraud Fails to Overcome Resounding Voter Dissatisfaction By Barry @ 6:40 pm -- CST (11-8-06) The lesson here appears to be that election fraud is only effective in closely contested races. Despite the best efforts of Rove and company, the tactics employed in 2000 and 2004 could not stem the overwhelming Democratic tide. | -------------------------------------------------- Fifth Grader Disciplined for Visiting 9/11 Truth Website By Barry @ 6:30 pm -- CST (11-8-06) Here is further evidence that the US is well on its way to becoming a society of informants. Those orchestrating these disgusting tactics should well remember what happened to the Stasi and their "helpers" after the fall of Communist Germany. They were hunted down like dogs. | -------------------------------------------------- Disgruntled Voter Smashes Touch-Screen Machine By Barry @ 9:50 pm -- CST (11-7-06) A hint of things to come? | -------------------------------------------------- FBI Probing George (Macaca) Allen's Voter Intimidation By Barry @ 1:50 am -- CST (11-7-06) Early reports suggest Allen's campaign is responsible for calling and threatening prospective voters with arrest if they exercise their right to vote. | -------------------------------------------------- Blueprint For Upcoming Election Theft By Barry @ 9:50 am -- CST (11-7-06) Greg Palast has been out in front of this issue for some time. The big question is what will be the response to another stolen election. At some point, realists will have to concede that we have moved well past the point of any meaningful change being achieved via the ballot box. | -------------------------------------------------- Prosecutor Kills Himself After Caught in Child Sex Sting By Barry @ 7:30 am -- CST (11-7-06) It would be interesting to read some of his sentencing recommendations for similarly situated defendants. | -------------------------------------------------- Lawsuit Proceeds for Man Cleared After Wrongful Conviction By Barry @ 7:20 am -- CST (11-7-06) One of the defendants in this case is scheduled to become Boston's police commissioner. He is accused of falsifying evidence and witness tampering in an attempt to secure the false conviction. | -------------------------------------------------- JAG Lawyer Terminated After Vigorous Defense By Barry @ 9:30 pm -- CST (11-6-06) It's the same old story. You have the right to a fair trial, due process, etc., but God help you (and evidently your counsel) if you decide to exercise those rights. | -------------------------------------------------- Terror Threat Rehashed By Barry @ 8:30 pm -- CST (11-6-06) This calls to mind Zacharias Moussawi's claim that Richard Reid, despite appearing to be at least mildly retarded, was going to pilot his hijacked plane on 9/11. The acts described in the article demonstrates that the government has such contempt for the people, they do not even bother getting their lies straight. | -------------------------------------------------- Federal Government Planning Additional Gaming Prosecutions By Barry @ 8:20 pm -- CST (11-6-06) One might think that with all of the pressing issues now facing the US, elective prosecutions such as those stemming from gaming cases might take a back seat. An inability to weigh the equities continues to be a hallmark of this administration. | -------------------------------------------------- FBI Continues to Waste Time, Resources By Barry @ 5:20 pm -- CST (11-6-06) The FBI is perhaps the biggest joke of all federal agencies. Founded by a cross-dresser who spent his career being blackmailed by mobsters he swore didn't exist, this agency continues to be the laughingstock of law enforcement. | -------------------------------------------------- GOP Pulls Out All Stops in Last Minute Campaign of Dirty Tricks By Barry @ 1:20 pm -- CST (11-6-06) Aside from violating a variety of Federal Trade Commission regulations (Do Not Call List), this appears to be a clear case of wire fraud. | -------------------------------------------------- Saddam Verdict Rigged By Barry @ 1:10 pm -- CST (11-6-06) Here is another take on the obvious manipulation of Saddam's show trial. Tony Snow's feigned indignation when asked about the curious timing of this event was wonderful. His experience with FOX seems to be serving him well in his continuing efforts to disseminate false and misleading pro-regime disinformation. | -------------------------------------------------- Syracuse University Review Disputes Report on Terror Cases By Steve @ 12:10 pm -- CST (11-6-06) Federal prosecutors rejected 87% of the international terrorism cases brought by the FBI during the first nine months of fiscal year 2006, a Syracuse University analysis concluded. The review, conducted by the university's Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), found that the number of rejections has been generally increasing since 2001. Prosecutions fell from 118 defendants in fiscal year 2002, to 19 defendants from Oct. 1, 2005, to June 30, the latest data available. | -------------------------------------------------- Prisoner Saves Federal Judge's Life, Has Sentence Reduced By Barry @ 8:10 am -- CST (11-6-06) Note the prisoner's cooperation on "several cases." | -------------------------------------------------- Republican's Tie Hope of Victory to Saddam's Phony Trial By Barry @ 8:00 am -- CST (11-6-06) This is a familiar theme for the BCF. While governor, Bush parlayed record numbers of executions to political victories. | -------------------------------------------------- George Bush Spreading Lies on Campaign Trail By Steve @ 7:10 am -- CST (11-6-06) The Nov. 7 elections are shaping up as not just a choice between Republicans and Democrats, but a test of how gullible, and how divorced from reality, the American people have become. In campaign stops across the country, George W. Bush is delivering a medley of his favorite lies, half-truths and non sequiturs about Iraq and the "war on terror." | -------------------------------------------------- Saddam Sentenced by Puppet Court By Barry @ 9:10 am -- CST (11-5-06) How convenient. Saddam is "sentenced" on Sunday, so the story can be picked-up by Monday's papers, just in time for the following day's US mid-term elections. If you believe the official propaganda, Saddam's trial was for killing townspeople after a failed (US inspired) uprising. The Lancet recently estimated over 600,000 Iraqis have died as a result of Bush's illegal war and occupation. If Saddam deserves to hang, what punishment is appropriate for Bush, a much more prolific mass murderer? | -------------------------------------------------- US Seeks to Silence Torture Victims By Barry @ 7:10 am -- CST (11-5-06) The government's argument is that if torture victims are allowed to describe the crimes committed against them, these tactics may lose their effectiveness. | -------------------------------------------------- Military Press Calls for Rumsfeld to Go By Barry @ 7:00 am -- CST (11-5-06) The military has borne the brunt of Rumsfeld's countless "errors" in war planning and execution. It will be interesting to see how the BCF deals with independent-minded generals who are growing tired of outrageous lies and staggering losses. | -------------------------------------------------- Saddam's Sentence Expected Immediately Before US Midterm Elections By Barry @ 8:40 am -- CST (11-4-06) As if more evidence was needed to demonstrate that Saddam's trial is a farce and a fraud, completely orchestrated by the US, now comes word that his "verdict" will be delivered on the eve of the midterm elections. Any lingering doubts about who choreographed this show trial have now been fully answered. This blatant politicization of an internal Iraqi event for the consumption of a US audience will not be lost on the Iraqi people. While it may score points for the BCF, it will likely result in the deaths of thousands of Iraqis who will be even more inspired to battle the illegal occupation of their nation. | -------------------------------------------------- Mistrial in Mob Murder Case By Barry @ 8:30 am -- CST (11-4-06) Here is another example of the government failing to secure a conviction in what previously might have been considered to be a "slam dunk." | -------------------------------------------------- Another Acquittal in Federal Court By Barry @ 8:20 am -- CST (11-4-06) The feds still brag about their 98% conviction rate, but that is only so because 95% of the defendants plead guilty. In an era where distrust and outright hatred of the federal government is at an all-time high, federal convictions will become increasingly difficult to obtain. | -------------------------------------------------- George Bush's Resume By Barry @ 5:30 pm -- CST (11-3-06) This reads like a laundry list of criminal charges. | -------------------------------------------------- Stage Set for Massive Voter Fraud |
